Visit from Bama and Dabo
We were glad that Bama and Dabo were able to make the trip down from Michigan to visit with their grand-babies. Their visit included cuddle time with James and playtime with Claire.
First Week Home
We took James to his first checkup on Monday, November 7. He received a great report and his weight had gone up from 6 pounds, 4 ounces at the hospital to 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
After James' checkup, I had a visit with my doctor because my blood pressure had gone up and I was having bad headaches. My doctor sent me back to the hospital. The doctors at the hospital ran some tests and put me on a 24 hour IV of magnesium sulfate to prevent seizures. The medicine knocked me out pretty hard, but thankfully Matt and James were able to stay with me at the hospital and Mom was able to stay in town a few extra days to watch Claire. We spent two more nights at the hospital before heading home again. Thankfully I'm feeling much better now.
Here is James sleeping during hospital stay #2. He wasn't a patient this time, but the nurses found us a bassinet and some blankets to keep in the room.
Claire has been particularly cute lately with her stroller and Elmo "purse." She puts dolly or Elmo in the stroller, gets her purse, says goodbye to everyone, and walks out of the room. If you ask where she's going, she will tell you she's going to the park.
Visit from our friends Amy ("Emmee") and Jonathan ("Sof-fen") who are also Claire's Sunday School teachers
Visit from Claire's friend Hannah and Hannah's mommy, Angela. Hannah brought Claire a book all about being a big sister. Claire has had us read it to her many times now!
First family walk with the double stroller. Once we started moving, James slept the whole way.
First Days at Home
Brooks seems to accept our new little guy
Claire enjoys taking care of her furry little baby and rocking him in James' carseat
Pretty sure she was exclaiming "Baby James!"
First bath
James does not like diaper changes, being cold, baths, sleeping alone, or the hiccups. He sometimes likes his swing. He likes his carseat (as long as it's moving in the car or stroller), being wrapped in a warm blanket, and sleeping while being held.
