At thirteen months, I will officially announce that Claire is now a toddler! She does not crawl anymore. She still falls a lot, but gets right back up and keeps going--unless she's sleepy or hungry and then she will fuss a little first. She has had a few busted lips but no serious injuries. She is getting more and more daring every day. She can climb on and off of her rocking horse by herself now and usually that is more fun than the rocking itself, so she will climb on and off and on and off until she gets bored.
Claire still loves her books, reading on her own and bringing them to us to read. She enjoys playing with her doll, fascinated by the magnetic pacifier and the velcro on her dress. She has discovered the fun of opening all the drawers in the end tables and coffee table in our den and pulling everything out. She loves being outside and going to the zoo, the swings, or on a walk. She still loves playing at the church nursery and never cries.
Claire is a good healthy eater. We are almost finished weaning, and she's down to just nursing at bedtime. She doesn't particularly enjoy being fed with a spoon anymore and prefers to eat on her own. She eats all kinds of fruit, peas, corn, squash, broccoli, asparagus, carrots, yogurt, chicken, fish, black beans, and cheese. She still hasn't developed a taste for whole milk, so she just drinks water from her sippy cup or a real cup with help.
Claire goes to bed between 7:30 and 8:00 and wakes up around 7:15. She naps for 1.5-2 hours each day, usually starting during the 11:00 hour. She is wearing size four diapers and eighteen month clothes. Her hair is getting long, so we are trying to get her to keep her hairbow in, but she does not always cooperate!
