Starting Preschool

Claire started preschool this week.  She will attend three days a week.  So far, she seems to be enjoying it.  Some of the new things for this year include Spanish class, a class pet ("Marvin the Monkey") to come home for a weekend, show and tell, having lunch and snack every day, and a chapel time (starting in January).  Claire will be staying after school once a week for a little dance class.  This hasn't started yet, but she is very excited and wants to wear her new ballet and tap shoes all the time. In her Friday folder, Claire brought home some coloring that she did during the week and a questionnaire that her teachers had filled out about her "favorites".

Color: pink, purple
Animal: bunnies
Food: ice cream
Things at home: my room is pink with a dollhouse
Things at school: singing

Here are a few tidbits of information I got from Claire:  At circle time she sits on a yellow mat with her name on it.  Claire wishes her mat was pink.  They talked about Mr. Frog and how he was dressed in flip flops, short sleeves, and shorts which was good for today's weather.  They read a funny book about a raccoon who didn't want to go to school.  They went to music class twice this week.  Claire sat next to Ryan at lunch.  He squeezed his juice box and it spilled.  They each got to hang their monkey back on the tree on the wall.  Today was someone's birthday, so she got a cookie.  They didn't have cake, but Claire thinks cookies on a cake would be delicious to try sometime.

After this first picture, Matt said something along the lines of "Can you smile without showing your teeth?"

Ethan had a checkup this week.  He weighs 11 pounds, 7 ounces (95th percentile) and measured 23 inches long (75th percentile).  The nurse laughed that his growth chart went straight up (25th to 95th on weight in just four weeks).  Everything checked out great with his health.  The doctor was very impressed with how alert he is and how well he is tracking.

At the checkup, James dropped a book on the floor.  Dr. Alli picked it up for him and James said "Thank you," completely unprompted.  It was very sweet.
