The Easy* Way to Transport Four Little Kids and All Required Gear to the Beach

One might wonder how we handled transporting our crew to the beach every day, so I decided to let you in on our secrets.  Here's how we did it:

James and Claire each held a bucket of miscelaneous sand toys and wore their swim vests.  They rode in the wagon from the cottage to the sand path.  They then exited the wagon, handed off their buckets of toys to me, and continued down the path to the boardwalk and down the steps to the sand.

Matt carried Ethan in a hiking backpack.  Strapped to the pack were five towels, two chairs, a kite, a beach blanket and Ethan's water wings.  Inside the backpack were Matt's keys, cellphone, sunscreen, two additional pocket kites, and a waterproof camera.  Matt pulled the wagon to the top of the boardwalk with one hand and carried the umbrella and pop up shade tent in the other hand.

I wore Daniel and carried a large water toy for the day (either noodle or boogie board).  In the pink bag I carried miscellaneous toys, five bottles of water, three juice pouches, and one baby bottle.  On my back I wore another bag containing a snack for everyone plus three additional apples, hats for all of the children, three sizes of diapers, a change of clothes for Daniel, wipes, a burp cloth, my phone, and more sunscreen.

See?  Easy* as can be!  We only had to do it six days in a row during a heat wave.

*For the purpose of this blog post, the word "easy" is defined as incredibly difficult.  We did have a lot of fun on our trip but look forward to a day when our children don't need to be carried and might actually be able to help carry something!  More pictures to come. :)
