Before Claire was born, we finished off our basement by putting in a floor and ceiling, painting, and adding some storage space. We moved the office from Claire's room down into the basement. To free up the third bedroom for Baby Boy, we've recently moved our guest bed downstairs and rearranged a bit. It's cozy, but should be comfortable for guests. As an added bonus, you won't be able to hear anyone crying down here!
Here are a few more pictures of the storage chest that Matt made out of used oak flooring that had been removed from our friends' house, Lyn and Terry, during their remodeling project last year. Aside from the hinges, he didn't use nails or screws... but this means Matt got away with buying a lot of new tools to cut the joinery.
