Beating the Heat

Wow - what a hot week! No rain for several days and temperatures in the 100's made this week pretty brutal. As much as we want to stay cooped up in the air conditioning, the little ones need to get out of the house at least a little bit each day so we found some fun ways to cool off. On Wednesday, Amanda went to Roswell's riverside park sprayground with her MOPS friends. Claire didn't have too much fun in the morning, but since the tickets were valid for the rest of the day we went back when Matt came home that evening. The second time around was a blast and we finished off with a picnic in the park.

Great big water spouts and...

...itty bitty water spouts.

Playing in a fountain is fun, until one day she sees a fountain that she can't play in. Talk about confusing!

James always wants to sit up in the bathtub. Finally he gets to play and get wet.

A little water on the noggin and that 2" puff ball falls right down.

On Saturday, we went back to the INK Museum in Gainesville, GA. It's still a great interactive children's museum for the youngest kids with theme rooms and durable toys; we haven't even been to the Atlanta Children's Museum yet. This was Jame's first visit to INK and he found plenty of things to do. Claire was also more active than the last time.  We were worried that the heat would mean that there would be a crowd of people looking for an air conditioned playplace, but it turned out to be just the opposite and INK was much less crowded than it was during our last visit.

So many things to climb on

A truck mat is such a great toy, I think James might enjoy one someday soon

Claire had fun identifying all the vegetables in the garden and...

...planting them in the rubber chip garden (yes I know, you don't plant ripened tomatoes)

James had fun chewing on blocks and knocking over Daddy's towers

and climbing on even more things

The grocery store with mini carts is a popular room. Claire passed all the contents of her cart to a little boy who wanted to be the cashier. Total bill? About one million kajillion dollars... after sales tax.

Apparently James hasn't learned that the bead and wire toy reminds everyone of the dentist's office waiting room

Claire used 5 stethoscopes to listen to every baby doll's heartbeat. She's very thorough.

Beep beep!

Daddy had fun opening up the valves and levers on the truck too

Haa-looo!

I'm fairly certain that James had a good time

James plays at his table longer than any toy. He gets up one side and walks himself the whole way around so that he can touch every button. It's entertainment for us too.
