Circus

Today we took Claire and James to the Shrine Circus and carnival.  When we first walked in, we passed a petting zoo.  Claire did not want anything to do with the animals.  We also passed camel rides and pony rides.  Again, Claire wasn't interested.  She's a little afraid of big animals.  Then we saw the ferris wheel and Claire started asking to ride it.

Claire loved it!  The video might make you a little motion sick, but Claire's smile is worth it!

After a good experience on the ferris wheel, Claire was fearless and wanted to ride everything she saw--including adult rides that made my stomach churn just watching them.  She rode a little car ride by herself.  We weren't sure how she would handle this either, but she had a blast.

  James was happy watching in the stroller.  He did get excited whenever he saw a glimpse of his sister.

We went to the circus show.  Both kids were very good.  Claire had lots of questions and comments such as "Why was he on fire?" "That's dangerous." "What is he doing?" "We shouldn't do that." "Are they going to make the tigers be on fire?"  James spent several minutes playing peek-a-boo with a girl behind us and then decided he wanted to fight wearing his shoes.

After the circus, Claire rode a few more rides.  It started to rain, so we had some chicken fingers and fried oreos under a shelter.  It was a fun family day and Claire is already asking to go back!

 

Highlight of the day for James--the fried oreo.  Didn't get a picture, but when we told him it was all gone, he sure did cry!
